How to Measure for the Clothes Fit: A Step-by-Step Guide
Because our products are exclusively custom-made to order based on your chosen specifications, we cannot accept returns or exchanges for sizing issues. To ensure you receive a garment that fits you perfectly, it is highly highly recommended that you take a few minutes to measure yourself before placing an order.
The most accurate way to find your size is to take a piece of clothing you already own that fits you exactly how you like, lay it flat, and compare its measurements to our size charts.
Here is exactly how to take the four most important measurements.
Preparation: What You Need
A flexible tailor’s tape measure.
A flat, hard surface (like a table or the floor).
Your favorite, best-fitting shirt, sweater, or jacket.
Smooth the garment out completely on your flat surface. Ensure there are no wrinkles, folds, or stretching, and make sure all buttons or zippers are fully fastened.
1. How to Measure Length
The length determines where the bottom hem of the garment will sit on your waist or hips.
How to do it: Locate the base of the collar (the highest point of the shoulder, right next to the neckline). Measure straight down from the collar base to the bottom edge (hem) of the garment.
2. How to Measure Bust / Chest
This is the most critical measurement for a comfortable fit across your torso.
How to do it: Smooth the garment flat. Measure horizontally across the fullest part of the chest, typically from one armpit seam directly to the opposite armpit seam. This gives you the full chest width measured flat.
Note: If our size chart displays the circumference (total measurement around the body), simply double the flat width number you just measured.
3. How to Measure Shoulders
A well-fitting shoulder seam prevents the garment from looking sloppy or feeling restrictive.
How to do it: Flip the garment face down so you are looking at the back. Measure completely straight from the edge of the left shoulder seam to the edge of the right shoulder seam (end to end across the back).
4. How to Measure Sleeves
This ensures the sleeves fall exactly where you want them on your wrists.
How to do it: Start your tape measure at the top shoulder seam (where you ended the shoulder measurement). Run the tape measure down the outside edge of the arm all the way to the very end of the cuff.
Pro Tips for the Best Results
Measure twice: Always double-check your numbers to ensure accuracy.
Mind the margin: Due to manual manufacturing processes, allow for a slight variance of up to 1 inch in the final product.
Between sizes? If your measurements fall exactly between two sizes on our chart, we always recommend sizing up for a more relaxed, comfortable fit.
